4.0 out of 5 stars Great performance, use these tips for the setup, December 26, 2012

I am a former user of the Logitech Revue unit for Google TV, which I have enjoyed very much, but its performance is not up to what the most modern units can provide and it's no longer getting upgrades, so the standard Google TV interface of the Hisense Pulse (fewer delays in getting updates from Google) and its promises of better performance appealed to me. The unit does perform very well overall - much faster performance than the Revue, with HDMI 1.3 standards compatibility for higher quality video output for those units that are also using this newer standard for digital video. The software on the Pulse includes the new Mini-Guide for the Google TV Primetime app, which recommends content that I might like. The remote is actually quite nice, I could quibble with the placement of some of the buttons but overall it's quite usable, with the flip-side keyboard working fine and the touchpad for Web browsing having a nice grippy surface and simple scrolling and tap-clicking. The shortcut... Read more

I have just received the Hisense Pulse and had no issues with the setup so far. The 4 star rating reflects only the fact that I have just started using it. I do have a relatively older TV (5 year old Sony Bravia) which was not recognized but that did not present any issues. I can watch TV and do PIP with no problem. Netflix did not work but only because of the outage, and cannot wait to use it. I've attached an external 2TB hard drive I had attached to my Asrock 330HT, and was recognized and scanned easily. So was my LG NAS. Installing and updating couple of apps from the store was also fine.

I will report more if any difficulties arise and will adjust the rating.

My first impressions of the hisense pulse is mixed at this time. I just hooked it up today, setup was easy, instruction manual was terrible, a lot more info is needed to understand more about this product. I was not able to connect IR blaster to work with my Dish Network HDTV receiver even tho its listed in the setup feature , or my LG TV. Also Netflix would not load completely, it would start to show the red screen then stop and give message to try Netflix help. It will not work with Amazon Prime Videos at this point, but I guess that will be coming next year when they update the software again. It does work good with YouTube, with the new app you can send videos from you smartphone or tablet to the hisense to play. I will be contacting support after Christmas to see if they can get the device to work with my Sat receiver, if not then I will return it and wait for the bugs to be worked out of it before I think about a repurchase. It a good entry price for the product, but it may be... Read more
