5.0 out of 5 stars Great tablet, November 27, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Got this tablet from Amazon thro' a Thanksgiving deal. Thus far quite pleased with the device. Before buying, did a bit of research and comparison of this ASUS Transformer TF300T with two other tablets in the same price range - the Toshiba Excite 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. All three were 16 GB. The Samsung model looked more attractive but was less powerful (had 2 CPU cores and a tad slower clock of 1 Ghz). The Toshiba and the ASUS had the exact same CPU (4 core NVDIA CPU) but other slight differences. The Toshiba has a mini-USB port built-in, but the ASUS requires an $18 adapter to get the USB. Other connections, HDMI and SD-slot were identical. However, the Toshiba reviews indicated a color bleed of the edges of its display for some owners, so I just chose the ASUS tablet over the Toshiba. Not that it matters a lot, but the ASUS has a 8 MP rear camera, as opposed to a 5 MP on Toshiba (I think). This ASUS model does have Bluetooth as well.

Its been just a couple days... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardware is quality, OS much improved., December 31, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I have used this tablet intensively for the last few days, and so far I'm extremely pleased. I have built many gaming computers over the years, and I've almost always opted for Asus motherboards (as well as other hardware), and they have never let me down. I find their hardware to be very high quality. The Android OS upgraded to Jelly Bean the first time I used it, and so far I like it a lot.

First Off: Who should buy this. I bought this to use in place of my aging netbook (also an Asus). If you're an online shopper, casual internet browser, use online bill pay and banking, and like to use photos and music on your laptop/netbook, and maybe print occasionally, then this may be for you. It's also good for casual gaming. It won't replace a computer used for business or productivity. Android is getting better and making inroads all the time, but it's not there yet.

Second: Display. I've used a lot of computers and monitors and HDTV's and such, and I can't complain... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent Tablet, December 31, 2012

I fell in love with this tablet almost immediately when I started toying with it in the store. It was fast, sleek, and very user friendly. Unlike Apple's iPad the Asus Transformer offers customization and has a SD slot to expand memory. Since I use the tablet to double as an ereader so the SD port is useful and the Android tablets are capable of reading PDF files (unlike the iPad).

The Asus tablet is the best in its price range as I felt that the Acer tablet was sub par and lifeless and the Insignia was awkward and average (I was unable to try the Lenovo since it was dead in the store). The Samsung was the only tablet that I felt was good enough to compete with the Asus, though it is more pricey than that of the Asus.

My only complaint is that I had to exchange my first one because it was extremely buggy and was constantly freezing so I was restarting it over and over again. I've run across a handful of people who complained of similar problems, so my... Read more
