5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than I expected it to be., November 10, 2012

First let me start off by saying I have never used one of the expensive IPS monitors so my opinions will be based on my experience with other non-IPS monitors. This is a 1 day review...normally I wait a while longer but this product has no reviews so I thought it needed something.

Pros:
-Fairly accurate colors out of the box. Perhaps a little on the faded side, setting monitor to scenery mode makes it slightly more saturated than a calibrated monitor (which looks great in colorful video games.
-Low Price
-Good OSD menu
-Easily accessible connections

Cons:
-Did not come with an HDMI - HDMI cable.
-Documentation could be better.
-Speakers are weak but i've never heard of a monitor with great speakers.

Thinks to note:
-There is a plastic notch on the rim where the monitor meets the base so pay attention when you are attaching the base because the notch must go in first then you can worry about the 2 pegs and the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection, November 26, 2012

I can not say enough good things about this monitor. First off it has a 1ms GTG (Gray-toGray) response time. Without going into nerdy tech talk that is very, very fast. It has 2 HDMI outlets which is great if you use to computers. I have my Xbox 360 hooked up to one and my computer into the other. I play very graphic intensive games and the 1080p resolution makes them look brilliant. Witcher 2, Hitman Absolution, Back Ops 2 all look wonderful. I custom built my PC and have and Asus P9X79 Pro motherboard and it also runs great. Everything Asus makes is always very well-built. But I digest (LOL?). Yes the pricetag may be out of some people's budget but i'm not going to take off any stars for that. One thing to note this monitor does not come with a HDMI to HDMI cable so make sure you have one if you plan on using that set-up.

The description of the monitor does NOT state that it lacks a DVI port. And while it ships with a DVI - HDMI cable, it does NOT ship with an HDMI - HDMI cable. Lovely. Now I need to run out to a store and pay an inflated price for an HDMI cable. If the PRODUCT DESCRIPTION was clearer, I could've simply ordered one when I placed this order.

For the record, the monitor accepts DisplayPort, HDMI or VGA inputs. It ships with a VGA-VGA and DVI-HDMI cable. Somebody wasn't wearing their thinking caps when they put this package together...

Ok, that said, once I bought the HDMI cable and plugged the monitor in, it worked well; in fact, I really like it! Nice and wide; if only it had 1200 pixels instead of 1080 :). Very bright display, viewable from wide angles.

There are a few other issues:

1. The buttons at the lower left are poorly documented; including the fact that they are not touch-on-the-front switches but mounted underneath. The documentation... Read more
