The dealer wanted almost $2,000 to install a satellite dome. Instead we opted for the $500 "take-out" system. This approach has several plusses and minuses:1. It only works on Dish systems. Not a problem for us as we already are Dish subscribers. 2. The antenna must be carried out, and the receiver must be initialized at each stop. (However, there is no need to aim the antenna). This 10 minute procedure precludes watching Dish at rest stops. Not a problem for us. 3. Out of the box, it is not a DVR. However for a $40 set-up fee we connected our own USB drive to the receiver. It then became a DVR. 4. It only has a single tuner (our set at home has two). However, it is able to receive programs from all three Dish satellites. 5. I used to carry a standard antenna in my RV, when i got to my campsite, it used to take almost 4 shot of goldschlagger to aim the antenna. Now, i just answer a few questions the reciever asks me, like what state am I in, which i ususally know if I leave the goldschlagger alone, and that's it, 5 minutes later, I am watching HD TV, how wonderful. Easily worth the 500 bucks for the system and it will pay for itself in one travel season. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful The Tailgater Works Very Well, By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) Just point it south, hook it up and you are in business works perfectly. The only issues that I have had are trees in the way of som campsites and Dish network trying to bill me after I suspended service for the winter. |
