We had needed a new vacuum for a while but I had put it off because I wanted to find something good. We have a Kirby and a Oreck XL and a central vac system. All 3 of them have their issues. Since having this vacuum I have loved the fact that I can vacuum every surface weather carpet, area rug or hardwood floor, in the open or under furniture without having to either move the furniture or make extensive changes to the vacuum. It has great suction and at first I thought I was going to have trouble with our area rugs until I found the way to reduce the suction so it wouldn't suck the rug up to the vacuum. It gets the dirt out of the cracks between the boards on hardwood floors too. The various attachments and configurations make it adaptable to nearly any environment.
