I had a Tough Case on my iPhone 4 prior to this and really like it. The otterbox is too big for me, and I really like the rubber inner with plastic outer cover. I think that provides the most shock absorption.This case is a quality product. The rubber fits snug and tight and the plastic snaps on perfectly. It doesn't add too much bulk and has a nice clean look to it. Access to all the ports is good, with plenty of room. I like the large opening on the back for camera and speaker...which means the flash or sound won't be affected at all. The only real difference between the case-mate version at the a-case is that the back on this one is very smooth, as opposed to the Tough Case which has a textured back. Read more 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful  good alternative to otterbox commuter, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Acase Samsung Galaxy S3 Case - Superleggera PRO Dual Layer Protection (Black/Black) (Fits AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon) (Wireless Phone Accessory) i purchased this while it was still prime eligible for a little over $12 (it was slightly cheaper than the marketplace price + shipping). i wanted to buy one first to see how it fits before going for the other colors (several family members got the same phone). the silicone layer is pretty thin, thinner than otterbox and in my opinion not nearly as thick enough to be used as a stand-alone skin, but that also makes pressing the volume/power keys much easier since there are no cutouts for those. the "rubberized" outer plastic shell was a bit challenging to put on over the silicone skin, but it fits well and securely enough that (hopefully) it'll stay on if i were to drop the phone. the plastic protects the corners, which i find are always the first to be damaged/chipped when i drop my phone. in the description, it mentions "silicone plugs provide coverage for ports", which mine did not have. it was just a cutout for the ports, not a biggie for me although I think that part of the...
